Sparkasse Vogtland Arena

Impressive architecture in the middle of a beautiful landscape – this is the Sparkasse Vogtland Arena in Klingenthal.
The modern ski jump hill is not only attractive during international competitions, but also as the destination for a day trip.
It is great fun for children of all ages to get into the adventure rail Wieli and to drive up to the jump tower along to the landing slope and then to drive with the glass lift up the 30 m high start tower together with their parents or with school and sports friends. The outlook towards the Aschberg is simply fantastic, just like the feeling you will have when you are standing in the spaceship-like capsule, in the same place where the top athletes prepare for the jumps to distances of up to 146.5 m!
You can reach the arena area approximately after a 45-minutes´ drive from Reichenbach.
Ski World Schöneck
The only winter sports complex certified as “Family-friendly ski area” offers its guests a top-class alpine skiing pleasure with almost 2 kilometres of slopes with different levels of difficulty and the ski circuit. Advanced skiers also find something to suit them thanks to a descent of the category black ski slope. But there is also a selection of smaller descents, all equipped with tow lifts.
In the Fun Park, snowboarders attempt cool jumps and enjoy a spectacular panoramic view.
The entire alpine ski area can be synthetically covered with snow.
German astronautics exhibition Morgenröthe-Rautenkranz
You can experience the fascination for astronautics and space exploration in the German astronautics exhibition in Morgenröthe-Rautenkranz, the birthplace of the first German cosmonaut, Dr Sigmund Jähn.
The exhibition provides unique exhibits from past, present and future of astronautics, such as original space suits, rocket models and satellites and expends your knowledge of the beginnings of astronomy, the unmanned space travel and the benefit the space flights will have for our everyday life.
In the original training module of the base block of the space station MIR, in which many European astronauts completed the first stage of their training, you can experience how it feels like to live in a very confined space. In the astronautics cinema you can go on an exciting journey to the International Space Station ISS.
The planet park and an astronautics playground for the young visitors in the outside area complement your visit to the astronautics exhibition.
Castles of Greiz

The landmark of the Thuringian town Greiz is the Upper Castle, which towers on a 50 metres high mountain peak consisting of argillaceous schist rock. The ascent to the castle is rewarded with a beautiful view to the Lower Castle, the park and the town winding through the valleys.
A permanent exhibition in the Upper Castle deals with regionally important historic events with particular reference to the residence culture of small states.
The Lower Castle, picturesquely situated close to the shores of the river Weiße Elster, used to be the residence of the Lord of Reuß for many centuries. The castle was rebuilt in the classicist style after the devastating town fire on 6 April 1802, which also didn´t spare the Lower Castle.
In 1929 the museum of local history opened its doors in the piano nobile. In addition to this, there are also the textile exhibition workshop, the Greiz Information, the music school and a café.
