Senior citizens & people with disabilities

Senior citizens

The proportion of elderly people in Reichenbach will further increase in the following years as a result of the demographic development. However, our senior citizens are still active and committed for a long time. They spend their leisure time in a varied way and often work regularly in an honor-ary position.

The senior citizens council is responsible for ensuring that elderly citizens can be comfortable, fit and live actively in our town and that their quality of life is maintained for a long time.

The senior citizens council works on a voluntary and non-partisan basis with all those who are ac-tive in the work for seniors in order to tackle municipal problems and to transfer these as recom-mendations to the respective responsible authority or institutions and to find joint solutions.

The town of Reichenbach wants to constantly enable its citizens with disabilities to participate in the social life. Therefore, we consider the interests of people with disabilities to the largest possible extent when planning municipal reconstruction and new construction measures or when organising festivals and events.

The administration is supported by the council for the disabled founded in 1996, a voluntary asso-ciation of competent persons, associations and institutions.

The council for the disabled also initiates and coordinates measures which eliminate disadvantages or prevent their development.

Health and Care

The medical care of the citizens of Reichenbach is secured by a hospital, doctors in almost all spe-cialisms and a dense network of pharmacies.

The hospital, the Paracelsus-Klinik Reichenbach, is a regional acute general care hospital and has more than 180 beds. About 7,300 patients are treated as inpatients and about 12,000 people as outpatients each year in the efficient, modern and friendly clinic with its six specialist departments and two occupancy departments.
Almost 300 employees bear the responsibility for this every day.

A wide range of care services administered by different authorities, from outpatient care and as-sisted living to care services and up to old people´s and nursing homes are available for people who cannot or cannot fully rely on family support and care in case of illness or old age
